Deep Dive
School Leaders as
Champions of Gender Equity
Tuesday, 5 November | 1:30 PM GMT
60 minutes
Format: Deep-Dive Panel Discussion
Gender equity in education doesn’t begin in policy documents; it begins in schools. Across the Global South, school leaders are at the forefront of transforming classrooms into spaces where every child, regardless of gender, has an equal opportunity to learn and thrive. Yet, these leaders often navigate deep-seated norms, limited resources, and systems that don’t always empower them to lead this change.

This session brings together researchers, policymakers, and practitioners to explore how school leadership can be a powerful lever for gender equity, and what it takes to make that leadership last. Through real examples and emerging evidence, the discussion will spotlight how school leaders are challenging bias, reshaping school culture, and building more inclusive learning environments.

Participants will gain insights into:

-
How school leaders can model and sustain gender-equitable practices in their schools.
-
The types of training, mentoring, and networks that strengthen gender-aware leadership.
-
How Ministries, NGOs, and education systems can better support school leaders to embed gender equity in their daily work.
Join this conversation to hear how leadership, when rooted in care and courage, can drive lasting change for girls and boys across diverse contexts.
