Promising Practices:
Trusting and Empowering
School Leaders

5th November 2024

1:15 - 2:15 PM UTC

Leadership thrives when school leaders have the autonomy to make key decisions. To improve education, systems must empower principals with control over financial and human resources, ensuring they can shape teaching and learning outcomes. However, autonomy alone isn't enough—it must be supported by clear guidelines, equitable resource allocation, capacity-building, and accountability measures. Regular consultation and trust between governments and school leaders are crucial to maximizing this autonomy’s positive impact.

Join this panel, spanning across global south contexts, to explore promising practices where autonomy, together with accountability, has led the way for improved and effective school leadership.
