Senior Manager, Curriculum

Remote / India

We are looking for an entrepreneurial individual with a proven track record as an excellent teacher, to serve as our first Senior Manager of Curriculum. They will be responsible for the development of an online and offline curriculum for School Leaders and Supervisors that is engaging, user-friendly, and helps influence and develop key leadership behavior amongst leaders.

We believe that school leadership is successful if it sustainably improves student success in life, including academic, career, and socio-emotional growth. The GSL curriculum is focused on helping School Leaders build instructional, equity focussed, and personal leadership practices and behavior. We equip School Leaders to play a critical role in improving instruction in their schools by facilitating excellent teaching and accelerated learning for all students. 


GSL programs are adapted to the local context and delivered in different ways across our partner network. From in-person training and coaching to blended or completely virtual programs, all GSL partners share the common belief that school leaders have a critical role to play in improving instruction in their schools. 

The GSL curriculum considers the leaders’ starting points and their legitimate concerns. The curriculum is designed to evolve in a way that balances theory and practice and is relevant to the context of each partner organization. The GSL Senior Manager will be responsible for creating content that is directly applicable to improving teaching and learning in schools and helps School Leaders and School Supervisors across different contexts to enhance their leadership practice. They will design content based on the principles of adult learning and grounded in the most pressing needs and day to day reality of School Leaders and Supervisors, by building in time to plan and apply the learning. 


GSL content is designed to be adaptable to different modes of delivery including in-person and virtual. The content includes resources and tools for school leaders and teachers. We keep a special focus to ensure that our content is responsive to the cultural and policy context within which a given set of school leaders operate. 

Roles and Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:


GSL Core Curriculum 

  • Update and develop GSL’s School Leader core curriculum modules and resources to be used across partner countries based on trends across the partner network and the latest industry research

  • Lead the development of GSL’s School Supervisor curriculum to be used in government partnerships across the partner network 

  • Lead the development of GSL’s curriculum for short term projects targeting specific focus areas

  • Stay up to date and collate learnings from the curriculum work happening across the GSL partner network


GSL Online Curriculum 

  • Adapt and continuously improve curriculum for online consumption

  • Develop supporting tools for online consumption: storyboards, tools, follow-up activities, and instructional videos

  • Ensure compliance with licensing and copyright laws and regulations

  • Stay on top of understanding industry trends in e-learning and content design


GSL Online Support

  • Support the planning and facilitation of local and global online learning communities of School Leaders 

  • Work in collaboration with the Product Manager and the Director of Programs to implement the ‘rapid iteration testing’ phase for content and platforms and incorporate learning into content design


Support GSL strategy and team-building

  • Project manage the work of the program team by creating a project plan with the team and regularly monitoring and updating the plan

  • Support team members by sharing learning and providing feedback

  • The GSL curriculum function will closely partner with other team members to ensure the delivery of high-quality programming.  As a key member of a small GSL team, the role would involve cultivating and managing relationships to ensure effective communication channels across teams at GSL


Candidate Profile


  • Academic qualification in education (desired) or another undergraduate degree

  • At least 8 years of work experience in teaching, training, and/or curriculum design

  • Understands adult learning theory and has developed adult learning experiences 

  • Demonstrated interest in working in the social sector

Work Location and Remuneration

The candidate will be based in India. The candidate must have the ability to travel internationally as well as within the country.  Salary and title are commensurate with experience and competitive with the non-profit education sector in India.
